Who can resist a smiling dog?  Smilez is the happiest dog at the shelter and he’s a complete gentleman.  He loves to be around other dogs and lots of humans.  Smilez has a big personality to go with the huge grin he always has on his face.  He is thought to be a 2 to 3 year old lab/terrier mix.  Smilez is ready for a family jam packed with kids and chaos.  The more fun the better!

Also Featured this week…

Special Needs Kitties Sunny and Moon are very sweet kitties who are currently healthy but have tested positive for feline leukemia. This is not transferable to humans or dogs but is transferable to other cats. Therefore, we need a home for them together or apart where there are no other cats and they will be kept inside so they do not infect other cats. FeLV positive cats can live long healthy lives for the most part, though they may develop symptoms and leave us sooner than we’d like. Please help us find a home for these sweet cats so they are not euthanized. Both cats are spayed/neutered and are up to day with vaccinations. Sunny (white male) will likely need some treatment of possible skin cancer on his ears and the costs for this will be covered.  The adoption fee is waived for a great home for these cats.  Adoption application required and can be picked up at Friendly Paws Pet Supplies & Grooming. You may also email friendlypawspets@gmail.com and request an application.

If you adopt one of our Pet of the Week candidates we would love to share the picture right here on wxtq.com, please send photos to photos@wxtq.com!

For more pictures of pets available scroll down. First you will see the listings for the Athens County Dog Shelter and then the The Athens County Humane Society provided by Petfinder.com!

For Cats Featured that are part of the Humane Society, first vaccinations will be given upon adoption. Booster shots will be due 3 weeks after adoption at your local vet. All pets are neutered/spayed, FeLV tested and parasite treated (internal & external) prior to adoption. THE FIRST STEP of the adoption process is to fill out the adoption application. Applications are online at http://www.athenshumane.org/adoption/adoption-application. To see more wonderful pets up for adoption from the Athens County Humane Society Click Here!
