Almost 1,900 AEP customers in Athens and Meigs County lost service Friday morning. AEP’S Jeff Rennie said the outages in the Albany area were due to a switch which burned on a large transformer at AEP’s Albany substation on Virgina Street. According to Rennie, a crew might have to reroute customers onto another circuit. He had no estimate on when repairs would be completed.
