A FREEZE WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING FOR ATHENS, MEIGS, MORGAN, PERRY AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES….
* TEMPERATURES…LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S.
* IMPACTS…SENSITIVE YOUNG SPRING PLANTS AND BLOSSOMING FRUIT TREES COULD BE KILLED IF NOT PROTECTED.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.

Dayton Driver Killed In Semi Crash In Athens County

The State Highway Patrol says a Dayton man is dead following an early morning crash in eastern Athens County.

The patrol spokeswoman says the eastbound truck driven by 49-year-old Phillip Malott struck a pole on the overhead sign announcing the U-S 50 – State Route 32 split about a mile west of Coolville near Dixon Road.

The crash happened just before five a-m Wednesday – closing the highway for about three hours.

Mallot was pronounced dead at the scene.
