Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says his Narcotics Enforcement Team has made a large pot bust.
Kelly says the team seized about 20 pounds of marijuana Wednesday evening after executing a search warrant on a Bean Hollow road home.
Kelly says that came after Deputy Brad Jeffers received information yesterday that a grow operation was operating at the home. He relayed the information to detective Jim Heater, who saw marijuana on the front porch when he drove by.
He says the search also turned up chemicals believed to be property of Ohio University – as well as a large number of master keys from OU.
Thirty-three year-old Phil Bell has been arrested on Cultivation and Trafficking charges.
Kelly says Bell will likely also face charges from OU. And the sheriff says Children Services was notified because the marijuana was being cultivated with an infant in the house.
