Python On The Loose In Athens County

There’s a python loose in western Athens County.

Sheriff Patrick Kelly says Deputy Chris Tomsha was on a call at Sand Stone Terrace Trailer Park off State Route 691 in Waterloo Township when a resident told him she had released a four-and-a-half foot python Sunday night because she couldn’t afford to feed it.

The woman told Deputy Tomsha she did not want a hungry python in her house and that she hoped to run over it with a mower later.

The owner of the park has been notified along with state wildlife officials and snake experts.
