The Athens Bulldogs look to continue their five game winning streak as they head to Albany to battle Alexander tonight in an Athens County clash. The Spartans are coming off a close win to open league play and sit at 3-3 and would love to pull the upset at home. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pregame at 7:15 and kickoff at 7:30.

In NFL action last night, St. Louis handled Arizona, 17-3.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was named the AFC offensive player of the month yesterday. Green leads the conference in catches with 27 and is second in yards with 428. Green also has three touchdowns and averages 15.9 yards a catch. This is the first time a Bengal has taken home the honor since Carson Palmer did in 2005. Cincinnati battles Miami on Sunday. The NHL announced some more cancellations yesterday, wiping out the first two weeks of the regular season in wake of the lockout. The lockout is now into its 19th day and the NHL has not made it clear whether these games will be made up if a deal can be reached in the near future. In total the NHL knocked out 82 games from October 11th to October 24th, starting with next Thursday, which was slated to be the start of the season.

The Boston Red Sox announced the firing of manager Bobby Valentine yesterday. Valentine led the red Sox to a record of 69-93 this season, which was the organization’s worst season in 50 years. Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell is reportedly at the top of the Red Sox wish list.
