Morning Sports – 11/26/12

The Cincinnati Bengals toppled the Oakland Raiders yesterday, 34-10. The Bengals dominated the first half, leading 24-0 behind a pair of Andy Dalton to Mohamed Sanu touchdown passes. Oakland cut into the lead in the third, trailing by just 14 heading into the final period, but Cincinnati ended all Raider hope. Mike Nugent drilled a 20-yard field goal and Andy Dalton found Jermaine Gresham from seven yards out for a score late in the fourth. Dalton finished with 210 yards and 3 touchdowns. In his return to Cincinnati, Carson Palmer threw for 146 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Bengals are now 6-5 and will head to San Diego on Sunday. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 3 and kickoff at 4:25.

The Cleveland Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday, 20-14. The Steelers took the early lead on a pick six from Lawrence Timmons. The Browns scored 13 unanswered following the score, headlined by a Brandon Weeden to Jordan Cameron 5-yard touchdown pass. However, the Steelers cashed in late in the half on a Chris Rainey 1-yard touchdown run to take the lead at the intermission. But Cleveland came out in the second half and scored on a Trent Richardson 15-yard run. The Browns defense would hold off the Steelers offense, forcing an incredible eight turnovers on five fumbles and three interceptions. Cleveland jumps to 3-8 on the year and will now head to Oakland on Sunday at 4:25.

Elsewhere in the NFL yesterday, St. Louis topped Arizona, 31-17. Jacksonville outlasted Tennessee, 24-19. Atlanta edged Tampa Bay, 24-23. Miami ousted Seattle, 24-21. Denver toppled Kansas City, 17-9. Indianapolis bested Buffalo, 20-13. Chicago handled Minnesota, 28-10. San Francisco defeated New Orleans, 31-21 and Baltimore clipped San Diego, 16-13 in overtime.

In NBA action last night, Brooklyn topped Portland, 98-85. New York dominated Detroit, 121-100. San Antonio outlasted Toronto, 111-106 in two overtimes. Philadelphia ousted Phoenix, 104-101. Boston snuck past Orlando, 116-110 in overtime and Denver blasted New Orleans, 102-84.

In Ohio Athletics news, Ohio women’s basketball fell to Duquesne, 62-55. The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead, but the Dukes answered with a run of their own to lead by one at the half. After a back and forth early second half, the Dukes pulled away for the win down the stretch. The Lady Cats were led by Shavon Robinson with 18 points and Mariah Byard with 10 points. The Ohio women will now host UMass on Thursday morning at 11:30 AM. The undefeated Ohio men’s team is back in action on Wednesday as they host St. Bonaventure. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game at 6:30 and tip off at 7.
