The Cincinnati Bengals fell on a late second field goal to the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, 20-19. The Bengals took a 10-3 lead after an Andy Dalton eight-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Hawkins. The Cowboys answered with a DeMarco Murray one-yard touchdown plunge, but Cincinnati took the lead at the half on a Josh Brown 33-yard field goal. Brown would hit a pair of field goals including one from 52 yard out in the third quarter to give Cincinnati a nine-point lead. However, Tony Romo hit Dez Bryant for a 27-yard touchdown pass and Dan Bailey hit a 40-yard field goal to win it for Dallas as time expired. The Bengals fall to 7-6 with the loss and will battle Philadelphia on Thursday night. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 6:50 and kick off at 8:20.
The Cleveland Browns won their third in a row yesterday, dominating the Kansas City Chiefs, 30-7. The Chiefs took the early lead on the first play from scrimmage as Jamaal Charles went 80-yards for a touchdown. However, it would be all Browns from that point on as Tavis Benjamin ignited Cleveland in the second quarter with a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown. Trent Richardson would add to the lead with a pair of one-yard touchdown runs in the second half to help put the game out of reach. The Browns are now 5-8 and will host Washington on Sunday at 1.
Elsewhere in the NFL yesterday, St. Louis clipped Buffalo, 15-12. Indianapolis edged Tennessee, 27-23. Minnesota bested Chicago, 21-14. San Diego handled Pittsburgh, 34-24. Philadelphia ousted Tampa Bay, 23-21. Washington outlasted Baltimore, 31-28 in overtime. Carolina topped Atlanta, 30-20. The New York Jets defeated Jacksonville, 17-10. San Francisco toppled Miami, 27-13. The New York Giants blasted New Orleans, 52-27. Seattle dominated Arizona, 58-0 and Green Bay snuck past Detroit, 27-20.
The Cleveland Indians have signed a one-year deal with first baseman Mark Reynolds. The 29-year old will make $6 million with incentives next year for the Tribe. Reynolds hit .221 last season with 23 homers and 69 RBIs for Baltimore.
The Ohio Lady Bobcats topped Morehead State yesterday, 79-72 in overtime. The Lady Cats were led by freshman Kiyanna Black with 19 points and junior Shavon Robinson with 17. Ohio women’s basketball will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Marshall at 2. Ohio men’s basketball returns to action on Saturday as they host Winthrop. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game at 1:30 and tip off at 2.
In NBA action last night, Orlando topped Phoenix, 98-90. New York bested Denver, 112-106. Oklahoma City handled Indiana, 104-93. Milwaukee defeated Brooklyn, 97-88. The LA Clippers dominated Toronto, 102-83 and Utah ousted the LA Lakers, 117-110.
