Seven Ohio Bobcats were named to Phil Steele’s All-MAC team yesterday. Senior offensive lineman Eric Herman and junior running back Beau Blankenship were named first team while junior quarterback Tyler Tettleton and senior center Skyler Allen were both placed on the second team. Defensive lineman Neal Hunyh, kicker Matt Weller and return man Ryan Clark were all third team honors. The Bobcats return to action at the Independence Bowl on December 28th. The Cincinnati Reds are reportedly close to a deal with free agent third baseman and utility man Jack Hannahan. Hannahan spent the past two seasons in Cleveland and is now close to a two-year deal with Cincinnati that could be announced today. The 32-year old hit .244 for Cleveland last year with four homers and 29 RBI and is known for his defense.
The Cincinnati Bengals head to Philadelphia tonight for a crucial match up with the Eagles. The Bengals are coming off of a late loss to Dallas on Sunday and need a win to help their standings in the playoff race in the AFC. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game starting at 6:30 and kickoff at 8:20.
The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Indiana Pacers last night, 96-81. The Cavs took the early lead and led by 6 at the half, but Indiana outscored Cleveland by 16 in the third to pull away. Cleveland managed just 23 points in the second half. The Cavaliers were led by C.J. Miles with 28 points. Cleveland will now host Milwaukee on Friday night at 7:30.
Elsewhere in the NBA yesterday, Brooklyn topped Toronto, 94-88. Atlanta bested Orlando, 86-80. Chicago defeated Philadelphia, 96-89. The LA Clippers toppled Charlotte, 100-94. Golden State edged Miami, 97-95. Boston outlasted Dallas, 117-115 in two overtimes. Milwaukee handled Sacramento, 98-85. Houston ousted Washington, 99-93. Oklahoma City snuck past New Orleans, 92-88. Minnesota clipped Denver 108-105 and Phoenix defeated Memphis, 82-80.
The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated Savannah State last night, 85-45. The Buckeyes came storming out of the gates, leading by 24 at the half. Ohio State was led by Deshaun Thomas with 22 points. Ohio State will now host UNC-Asheville on Saturday at noon. Ohio Bobcats basketball returns to action on Saturday. The Bobcats will host Winthrop and the game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game at 1:30 and tip off at 2.
