The Federal Hocking Lancers clipped the Eastern Eagles last night in our Athens County Game of the Week, 40-39. The Eagles came out red hot with an 11-2 lead and eventually led 22-15 at the intermission as the Lancers offense struggled. However, Federal Hocking chipped back into the game and tied it up after three quarters. After a back and forth final period, the Eagles took the lead by one with 24 seconds to go. But the Lancers Pete Crum would drive the lane with six seconds left missing a shot of the iron, but the put back at the buzzer from Terrance Mayle would give Federal Hocking the win. The Lancers are now 12-3, 10-1 and will head to Wahama on Friday night. Our Athens County Game of the Week on Power 105 on Friday night features Nelsonville-York at Vinton County.

In other area boys basketball last night, Alexander toppled Miller, 76-63. With the win, Spartan head coach Blaine Gabriel became the schools all-time winningest head coach. Belpre clipped Trimble, 49-45. Southern bested South Gallia, 60-44 and Vinton County handled Logan, 66-45.

The Cleveland Cavaliers topped the Boston Celtics yesterday, 95-90. The Cavs led by one at the intermission and trailed by three going into the fourth. However, Kyrie Irving would score 15 of the Cavs last 21 points to lead Cleveland to a victory. Irving finished the night with 40 points. The Cavaliers will now host Milwaukee on Friday night at 7:30.

In other Cavs news, Cleveland sent Jon Leuer to Memphis in exchange for big man Marreese Speights, guard Wayne Ellington, guard Josh Selby and a future first-round draft pick. The first-round pick will come to Cleveland if the Grizzlies pick falls between 6-14 in 2015 or 2016. In 2017 it will come to the Cavs if it is out of the top five and in 2018 and beyond the pick is unprotected.

The Ohio State Buckeyes outlasted the Iowa Hawkeyes last night, 72-63. The Buckeyes handled Iowa in the first half, leading by 12 at the intermission.
