The Athens County Game of the Week returns to Power 105 tonight as Trimble battles Miller in a Division 4 Sectional Final at Meigs high school. The young Tomcats are the third seed in the sectional and are looking for their first trip to the Convocation Center since 2005. The Tomcats and Falcons split the season series, but the experienced Falcons are out for revenge for a loss in last year’s playoffs to Trimble. The game can be heard on Power 105 tonight with pre game at 7:45 and tip off at 8.
The Athens Lady Bulldogs are back in action tonight as they take on Jackson in a Division 2 District Final matchup at the Convocation Center. The Lady Dogs finished the regular season as TVC-Ohio champs and only lost twice, one of those coming at the hands of the Ironladies. However, Dominique Doseck and company look for revenge tonight and a trip to regionals. The game can be heard on 970 WATH and 97.1 FM with pre game at 7:45 and tip off at 8.
In Spring Training Action yesterday, the Cincinnati Reds toppled Milwaukee, 5-2. The Reds took the lead in the first on an Emmanuel Burriss RBI double. The Reds added to their lead in the third inning on a Joey Votto two-run homer. The Reds will now battle the San Diego Padres today at 3.
In other Spring Training action yesterday, the Cleveland Indians topped Oakland, 14-10. Yan Gomes tallied five RBIs on a homer and a double in the game. Tribe outfielder Michael Brantley was injured in the game after being spiked in his left forearm. Brantley would receive stitches and remains day-to-day. Cleveland will now take on Kansas City today at 3.
In NCAA Top 25 play last night, #6 Kansas outlasted Iowa State, 108-96 in overtime. #22 Marquette edged #12 Syracuse, 74-71 and #13 Kansas State handled Texas Tech, 75-55.
In NBA action yesterday, Boston edged Utah, 110-107 in overtime. Denver bested the LA Lakers, 119-108. Atlanta topped Detroit, 114-103 and Washington ousted Toronto, 90-84.
In the NHL, Chicago continued their undefeated streak with a 3-2 win over Edmonton in overtime. Toronto topped Philadelphia, 4-2. Ottawa clipped Milwaukee, 2-1 in a shootout and Nashville snuck past Dallas, 5-4 in overtime.
