Morning Sports – 5/7/13

The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Atlanta Braves last night, 7-4. The Braves took the early lead, scoring once in the first, second and fourth on a Freddie Freeman RBI single and an Andrelton Simmons homer. The Reds fought back in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead down to one behind a Brandon Phillips RBI double. But once again the Braves added another tally in the fifth on an Evan Gattis RBI double and three more in the eighth behind another Andrelton Simmons homer. The Reds would come back with a pair in the bottom half on a Joey Votto RBI double, but it would not be enough. The Reds are now 18-15 and will host the Braves again tonight. Homer Bailey will matchup against Kris Medlen. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 6:40 and first pitch at 7:10.

The Cleveland Indians toppled the Oakland Athletics last night, 7-3. The Indians were on the board first with solo homers in the first inning from Jason Kipnis and Asdrubal Cabrera. Cleveland pushed the lead out to three in the fifth on another Asdrubal Cabrera homer and a Mark Reynolds blast. Cleveland would then add three in the seventh on a Jason Giambi RBI single and a Ryan Raburn RBI double. The Indians have won seven of their last eight and will host Oakland tonight at 7.
