The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates last night, 5-3. Joey Votto got the Reds on the board in the first on an RBI single. The Pirates would tie the game in the third, but Jay Bruce responded in the fourth with a solo homer. However, Pittsburgh came right back behind a Pedro Alvarez solo shot in the sixth and an Alvarez three-run double in the seventh. The Reds will now hit the road for Arizona. Johnny Cueto will face off against Wade Miley. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 9:10 and first pitch at 9:40.
Elsewhere in the MLB, St. Louis handled the Chicago Cubs, 6-1. The New York Mets edged Atlanta, 4-3. Detroit clipped Boston, 4-3. Washington bested Colorado, 5-1. Tampa Bay toppled the New York Yankees, 8-3. Houston outlasted Milwaukee, 7-4 in 10 innings. Texas snuck past Oakland, 4-3 and Minnesota dominated the Chicago White Sox, 8-4.
The Southern Ohio Copperheads continued their torrid start to the year, topping the Cincinnati Steam last night, 6-3. The Steam scored once in the second, but the Snakes came right back with one in the fifth and two in the sixth behind RBI singles from Jesse Puscheck and Mike Accardi. The Copperheads added two more in the eighth to put the game out of reach on another Puscheck RBI base knock. Southern Ohio will battle the Steam again tonight. The Miami Heat won their second straight NBA title with a 95-88 win over the San Antonio Spurs. LeBron James led the way for Miami with 37 points, nine assists and 12 rebounds. Dwyane Wade chipped in with 23 points to help give Miami the title in seven games.
