* TEMPERATURES…LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S.
* IMPACTS…SENSITIVE YOUNG SPRING PLANTS AND BLOSSOMING FRUIT TREES COULD BE KILLED IF NOT PROTECTED.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.

Morning Sports – 6/26/13

The Cincinnati Reds were toppled by the Oakland Athletics last night, 7-3. The Athletics jumped on Cincinnati, scoring twice in the second and four times in the third behind an RBI single from Yoenis Cespedes and a two-run homer from Josh Donaldson. The Reds would get on the board in the fourth on a Joey Votto solo blast, but Oakland answered again with one in the bottom half. Cincinnati put up two in the fifth when Jay Bruce walked in a run, but it would not be enough. The Reds take on the Athletics again today. Homer Bailey will take on AJ Griffin. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 3:05 and first pitch at 3:35.

The Cleveland Indians fell to the Baltimore Orioles last night, 6-3. The Tribe jumped on the board in the first on a Michael Brantley sac-fly and pushed the lead out to three on a Jason Kipnis two-run homer in the fifth. But the Orioles came storming back with a five-run seventh inning on homers from Chris Davis and Alexi Casilla. The Indians will continue the series in Baltimore tonight at 7.

Elsewhere in the MLB, Tampa Bay topped Toronto, 5-1. Miami bested Minnesota, 4-2. Washington ousted Arizona, 7-5. The New York Yankees clipped Texas, 4-3. Boston toppled Colorado, 11-4. Milwaukee handled the Chicago Cubs, 9-3. The LA Angels blew past Detroit, 14-8. The Chicago White Sox clipped the New York Mets, 5-4. Atlanta snuck past Kansas City, 4-3 and St. Louis dominated Houston, 13-5.

The Southern Ohio Copperheads are back in action tonight as they hit the road to take on the Grand Lake Mariners. The Copperheads are off to a strong start to the season and sit atop the GLSCL with a 13-3 record. The game can be heard on copperheadbaseball.com with pre game at 6:45 and first pitch at 7.

The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly offered the top overall pick in Thursday’s draft, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters yesterday in exchange for Minnesota’s Kevin Love. However, the Timberwolves were not interested and turned down the offer for the All-Star forward. The Cavs have the top overall pick in the upcoming draft on Thursday night. Also, former Ohio guard DJ Cooper will workout with the Cavs today.
