The Cleveland Indians fell to the Baltimore Orioles last night, 7-3. The Tribe jumped on the board first with a Lonnie Chisenhall solo blast, but the Orioles came back with two in the second. The Indians took the lead right back when Chisenhall hit an RBI double in the fourth and Mike Aviles hit a solo homer in the fifth. However, it was all Baltimore from then on as the Orioles scored five times in the fifth to pull away and clinch a win. The Indians will now head to Chicago for a doubleheader against the White Sox tonight at 5 and 8.
The Cincinnati Reds hit the road tonight as they head to Texas to do battle with the Rangers. The Reds have lost six of their last eight and will look to turn things around with Johnny Cueto on the hill against a strong Rangers squad. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 7:35 and first pitch at 8:05.
Elsewhere in the MLB, Minnesota bested Kansas City, 3-1. Boston topped Toronto, 7-4. The New York Mets clipped Colorado, 3-2. Arizona outlasted Washington, 3-2 in 11 innings. The Chicago Cubs toppled Milwaukee, 7-2. The LA Angels snuck past Detroit, 3-1 in 10 innings and Texas blanked the New York Yankees, 2-0.
The Southern Ohio Copperheads fell to the Grand Lake Mariners last night, 5-3. The Mariners put up one in the first and one in the third, but the Copperheads responded with one in the third. After the Mariners pushed the lead back to two in the fifth, Southern Ohio came right back to tie it in the sixth on RBI singles from Colton Turner and Taylor Burch. However, Grand Lake scored twice in the ninth to pick up the win. The Snakes will hit the road tonight to take on the Licking County Settlers. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected forward Anthony Bennett with the top overall pick in the NBA Draft last night. The 6’8 forward averaged about 16 points and eight rebounds a game with the Runnin’ Rebels. The Cavs then took 19-year old Russian small forward Sergey Karasev with the 19th pick before trading the 31st pick to the Portland Trailblazers for two future second round picks. Finally, with the 33rd pick the Cavs took small forward Carrick Felix from Arizona State.
