The Cincinnati Reds won in walk off fashion last night over the San Francisco Giants, 3-2 in 11 innings. The Reds were on the board first in the second on a Chris Heisey sac-fly. However, the Giants came back in the fifth to take the lead on a Tony Abreu two-run homer. But in the sixth, Chris Heisey came right back to tie the game on a solo blast. In the eleventh, it was Shin-Soo Choo who came through to give the Reds the victory on an RBI single. The Redlegs will finish the series with San Francisco today. Mike Leake will face Matt Cain. Elsewhere in the MLB, the Chicago Cubs bested Oakland, 3-1. The LA Dodgers outlasted Colorado, 10-8. Houston topped Tampa Bay, 4-1. The New York Yankees edged Minnesota, 3-2. Seattle snuck past Texas, 4-2 in 10 innings. Miami defeated Atlanta, 6-3. Boston clipped San Diego, 2-1. Baltimore ousted the Chicago White Sox, 4-2. Detroit handled Toronto, 6-2. Pittsburgh topped Philadelphia, 6-5. Arizona bested the New York Mets, 5-3 and Milwaukee blew past Washington, 4-1.
The Southern Ohio Copperheads topped the Lake Erie Monarchs for the second straight night, 2-1 last night. After six scoreless innings, the Monarchs jumped on the board first on an RBI groundout. However, the Snakes came right back, scoring twice in the eighth behind a Quintin Alexander RBI single. Anthony Misiewicz came in and slammed the door for the save as Southern Ohio advanced to 15-6 on the season. The Copperheads will head to Xenia today to battle the Scouts. Former Butler basketball coach Brad Stevens has taken the job as then next head coach of the Boston Celtics. The deal is reportedly worth $22 million over six years. Stevens led the Bulldogs to two national title games.
