The Cincinnati Reds outlasted the Chicago Cubs last night, 6-4 in 11 innings. Cincinnati took the early lead scoring twice in the second behind a Brandon Phillips RBI single. However, the Cubs came back, scoring twice in the second on a Nate Schierholtz two-run homer. The Reds scored twice again in the third, but the Cubs came right back, putting up one in the fourth on a Dioner Navarro solo homer and another solo blast in the seventh. In extra frames though, the Redlegs came through on a Shin-Soo Choo RBI single. Cincinnati will wrap up the series in Chicago today. The Cleveland Indians topped the Minnesota Twins last night, 5-2. The Twins jumped on top early in the second on a Josh Willingham solo blast, but the Indians responded with four unanswered runs on a Michael Brantley RBI single and a Ryan Raburn two-run homer. Zach McCallister was solid for the Tribe, allowing one earned run over six innings pitched with seven strikeouts. The Indians will battle the Twins again today at 1.
Elsewhere in the MLB, Arizona outlasted Baltimore, 4-3 in 11 innings. San Diego topped Colorado, 7-5. Miami blanked Kansas City, 1-0 in 10 innings. The Chicago White Sox clipped Detroit, 4-3 in 11 innings. Milwaukee handled Texas, 5-1. Seattle edged Tampa Bay, 5-4. Atlanta bested Philadelphia, 3-1. Boston defeated Toronto, 4-2 in 11 innings. Washington ousted San Francisco, 4-2 and the New York Yankees dominated the LA Angels, 14-7.
