The Cincinnati Reds were toppled by the St. Louis Cardinals last night, 6-1. The Cardinals jumped on top in the first, scoring twice on a Matt Holliday RBI single. However, the Reds would cut the lead to one in the fifth when Shin-Soo Choo blasted a solo homer. But St. Louis would start to pull away, scoring once in the sixth on an Allen Craig double, once in the seventh and then twice in the eighth behind a David Freese RBI single. The Redlegs will now finish the series in St. Louis tonight. Homer Bailey will take on Adam Wainwright. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 7:45 and first pitch at 8:15.
The Cleveland Indians fell to the Atlanta Braves yesterday, 2-0. The only offense in the game came in the second for Atlanta on an Elliott Johnson RBI triple. The Cleveland offense was shut down as Braves hurler Alex Wood threw 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up just five hits with five strikeouts. The Indians and Braves meet again tonight at 7.
Elsewhere in the MLB, San Francisco topped Colorado, 5-3. Kansas City blew past Minnesota, 6-1. The Chicago White Sox edged Houston, 4-3. The LA Angels clipped Tampa Bay, 6-5. The New York Mets blanked Philadelphia, 5-0. Boston dominated Baltimore, 13-2. Oakland defeated Detroit, 6-3 in six innings. The New York Yankees handled Toronto, 7-1. Milwaukee snuck past Pittsburgh, 7-6. Washington ousted Miami, 2-1 and Texas outlasted Seattle in 10 innings, 4-3.
