The Cincinnati Reds toppled the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday, 7-2. The Reds raced out to a 4-0 with one in the first on a Ryan Ludwick RBI single and three in the second on a Zack Cozart RBI base knock and a Shin-Soo Choo two-run homer. The Cards would score twice in the third, but Cincinnati responded with one and in the fourth with a Joey Votto solo blast. The Redlegs got solid pitching from Mat Latos, who threw a complete game, giving up two runs on four hits. Cincinnati will continue the series with St. Louis tonight. Homer Bailey will take the hill against Michael Wacha. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 6:40 and first pitch at 7:10.
The Cleveland Indians fell to the Baltimore Orioles last night, 7-2. The Orioles got on the board first with a Nate McLouth RBI double in the second a Brian Roberts RBI double. Then, in the fourth, Baltimore pulled away behind a McLouth two-run blast. Cleveland cut into the lead in the seventh and the eighth on solo dingers from Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall, but that would be all the offense the Tribe got. Cleveland will take on Baltimore again tonight at 7.
Elsewhere in the MLB, Philadelphia edged Washington, 3-2. Toronto bested Arizona, 4-1. The LA Dodgers outlasted Colorado, 10-8. Oakland defeated Texas, 4-2. San Diego topped San Francisco, 4-1. Miami edged the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Minnesota handled Houston, 10-6. Pittsburgh ousted Milwaukee, 5-2. Kansas City clipped Seattle, 3-1. Detroit shutout Boston, 3-0. Atlanta dominated the New York Mets, 13-5 and the New York Yankees blew past the Chicago White Sox, 9-1.
