The Cincinnati Bengals fell to the Chicago Bears in the season opener yesterday, 24-21. The Bengals and Bears traded touchdowns in the first quarter, but Cincinnati led at the half 14-10 behind a 45-yard touchdown catch from AJ Green. The Bengals scored first in the second on a BenJarvus Green-Ellis touchdown run, but the Bears would score 14 unanswered points and take the lead in the fourth on a Brandon Marshall 19-yard touchdown catch. The Bengals will now host the Steelers next Monday night. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 7 and kickoff at 8:30.
The Cleveland Browns fell to the Miami Dolphins yesterday, 23-10. The Dolphins took the early lead on a pair of field goals, but the Browns scored just before the half to take the lead on a Jordan Cameron seven-yard touchdown catch. But the Dolphins took over in the second half, taking the lead back on a Brian Hartline 34-yard touchdown catch and 10 more points in the fourth to pull away. Cleveland will head to Baltimore next Sunday at 1.
Elsewhere in the NFL, Dallas outlasted the New York Giants, 36-31. San Francisco bested Green Bay, 34-28. St. Louis edged Arizona, 27-24. Kansas City blasted Jacksonville, 28-2. Seattle ousted Carolina, 12-7. Tennessee topped Pittsburgh, 16-9. The New York Jets snuck past Tampa Bay, 18-17. New Orleans defeated Atlanta, 23-17. Indianapolis clipped Oakland, 21-17. Detroit handled Minnesota, 34-24 and New England snuck past Buffalo, 23-21.
The Cincinnati Reds finished a sweep of the LA Dodgers last night, 3-2. The Reds took the early lead, scoring in the second on a Jay Bruce solo blast. However, the Dodgers answered in the fourth with a Hanley Ramirez RBI double. Jay Bruce hit his second solo bomb of the night but Ramirez answered in the seventh with one of his own to tie it. But in the ninth, Ryan Hanigan came through with an RBI double to win the game. Cincinnati will now host the Chicago Cubs tonight. The Cleveland Indians fell to the New York Mets yesterday, 2-1. The Mets were on the board first on a solo homer in the fourth, but Cleveland came back to tie it in the sixth when Asdrubal Cabrera brought in a run when he was hit by a pitch. However, in the ninth Eric Young hit an RBI double that gave New York the victory. The Indians will now host Kansas City tonight at 7.
In other MLB action last night, St. Louis dominated Pittsburgh, 9-2. San Diego bested Colorado, 5-2. Tampa Bay topped Seattle, 4-1. San Francisco outlasted Arizona, 3-2 in 11 innings. Oakland handled Houston, 7-2. Texas snuck past the LA Angels, 4-3. Milwaukee defeated the Chicago Cubs, 3-1. Toronto blanked Minnesota, 2-0. Kansas City ousted Detroit, 5-2. Philadelphia clipped Atlanta, 3-2. The Chicago White Sox bested Baltimore, 4-2 and the New York Yankees edged Boston, 4-3.
