The Cleveland Indians dominated the Chicago White Sox last night, 14-3. The Tribe jumped on Chicago in the first with a solo homer from Nick Swisher and a three-run bomb from Ryan Raburn. Cleveland continued to tack on more and led 7-2 heading to the fifth. Then, a seven run fifth on RBI singles from Michael Bourn, Carlos Santana, Swisher and Raburn would put the game out of reach. The Indians will now continue the series in Chicago today at 2.
Elsewhere in the MLB, the New York Yankees edged Baltimore, 6-5. Milwaukee bested St. Louis, 5-3. Philadelphia handled San Diego, 10-5. Tampa Bay clipped Boston, 4-3. Pittsburgh defeated the Chicago Cubs, 3-1. The LA Angels snuck past Toronto, 4-3. Washington ousted the New York Mets, 7-2. Oakland toppled Minnesota, 8-2 and Atlanta dominated Miami, 6-1.
In NFL action last night, the New England Patriots outlasted the New York Jets, 13-10.
The Athens County Game of the Week returns to Power 105 tonight as Alexander hosts Unioto. The young Spartans return home after a tough loss looking to get over .500 against the Sherman Tanks. Last year’s matchup between the two came down to the wire with Unioto coming out on top. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game at 7:15 and kickoff at 7:30.
The Athens Bulldogs continue their 2013 campaign tonight as they travel to Warren. The Bulldogs have rolled past their first two opponents, but will hit the road to battle a tough Warriors squad. Athens and Warren meet tonight on 970 WATH and 97.1 FM with pre game at 7:15 and first pitch at 7:30.
Elsewhere in Athens County tonight, Nelsonville-York welcomes Berne Union. Trimble hosts South Gallia and Federal Hocking hosts Hannan.
