Freeze Warning For SE Ohio

A Freeze Warning is in effect from 10 PM Tuesday to 10 AM Wednesday for Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington counties.
A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Morning Sports – 9/20/13

The Cleveland Indians ousted the Houston Astros last night, 2-1 in 11 innings. The Indians got on the board in the first on a Jason Kipnis RBI single. However, the Astros would score once in the second on an L.J. Hoes sacrifice fly to tie the game. Ubaldo Jimenez was strong yet again for Cleveland, throwing seven innings, giving up just one run on six hits with nine strikeouts. In extra innings, the Indians came through on a Matt Carson RBI single to win it. The Tribe will take on Houston again tonight at 7.

Elsewhere in the MLB, Colorado outlasted St. Louis, 7-6 in 15 innings. Texas toppled Tampa Bay, 8-2. Boston bested Baltimore, 3-1. Toronto handled the New York Yankees, 6-2. Washington clipped Miami, 3-2. The LA Dodgers edged Arizona, 7-6 to clinch the NL West. The Chicago Cubs blew past Milwaukee, 5-1. San Francisco snuck past the New York Mets, 2-1. Detroit ousted Seattle, 5-4 and Pittsburgh dominated San Diego, 10-1.

In NFL action last night, Kansas City defeated Philadelphia, 26-16 to go 3-0 on the season.

In NCAA football action last night, #3 Clemson handled NC State, 26-14. The Ohio Bobcats return to action on Saturday as they host Austin Peay. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game coverage starting at 12:30 with the Bobcat Insider and kickoff at 2.

The Athens County Game of the Week on Power 105 and 970 WATH returns tonight as Athens welcomes rival Jackson to Basil Rutter Field. The Bulldogs are on a roll to start the 2013 season, sitting at 3-0 behind an offense averaging over 50 points per game. The Bulldogs took last year’s matchup in a game that came down to the wire at Jackson. It’s the Bulldogs and Ironmen on Power 105 and 970 WATH tonight with pre game at 7:15 and kickoff at 7:30.

In other area high school football action, Federal Hocking hosts Southern. Alexander is at Waverly. Nelsonville-York welcomes River Valley and Trimble heads to Meigs.
