Morning Sports – 10/10/13

The Cincinnati Bengals received some good news at practice yesterday. Bengals cornerback Leon Hall, who injured his hamstring against Green Bay in week three, returned to practice yesterday. Hall worked out in a limited capacity on Wednesday, but he is unsure if he can play on Sunday in Buffalo. This is the second time in two years that Hall has dealt with a hamstring injury that held him out for two weeks. Also, defensive end Michael Johnson went through some conditioning drills yesterday after a concussion a couple weeks ago in Cleveland. He is still out for Sunday. The Bengals are at Buffalo on Sunday. The game can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 11:30 and kickoff at 1.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns will head into their matchup with the Detroit Lions on Sunday carrying just two quarterbacks in starter Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell after Brian Hoyer learned he was out for the year with a knee injury. Cleveland did get defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard and linebacker Quentin Groves back for practice yesterday. Sheard is wearing a brace and limping slightly after missing two weeks. Cleveland welcomes Detroit on Sunday at 1.

The Columbus Blue Jackets hit the ice tonight as they hit the road to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Jackets have had off since Saturday, while Buffalo has struggled to start the season with an 0-3-1 record. Jackets forward Jarred Boll practiced with an upper body injury on Wednesday and is expected to play, but defenseman Fedor Tyutin and forward Nathan Horton are both out with injuries. It will be the first of three meetings between the two teams this year. The Jackets and Sabres faceoff tonight on 970 WATH with pre game at 6:45 and drop of the puck at 7.

In NBA preseason play yesterday, New York edged Boston, 103-102. Minnesota toppled Toronto, 101-89 and New Orleans bested Orlando, 99-95.

On your radio dial tonight, it’s the Sports Fan presented by J&K Contracting. That’s on 970 WATH and it’s from 6:06 to 6:45.
