Morning Sports – 10/25/13

The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Charlotte Bobcats, 105-92 in their final preseason game last night. The Cavs were led by Kyrie Irving with 20 points and five rebounds on the night. Earl Clark also poured in 12 points for the Cavs who finish the preseason at 4-4. Cleveland opens the regular season next Wednesday night as they host the Brooklyn Nets at 7.

The Athens County Game of the week returns to Power 105 tonight for a critical TVC-Hocking matchup as Southern visits Trimble. The Tomcat defense has been dominant, giving up just two points per game with six shutouts. Meanwhile, Southern has four shutouts and the Tornadoes are giving up just six points per game. The TVC-Hocking crown and precious playoff points are on the line in Glouster tonight. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game at 7:15 and kickoff at 7:30.

The Athens Bulldogs run for a TVC-Ohio title could come down to tonight as they welcome the Meigs Marauders to Basil Rutter. The Bulldogs offense has been unstoppable this season, but the Marauders offense has been tough to slow down as well. It shapes up to be a TVC-Ohio title game as well as a slugfest in the Plains. The Bulldogs and Marauders can be heard on 970 WATH with pre game at 7:15 and kick off at 7:30.

In other area action tonight, Federal Hocking is at Eastern, Alexander hosts Wellston and Nelsonville-York welcomes Vinton County.

The St. Louis Cardinals knotted up the World Series at one with a 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. Game three is scheduled for Saturday night in St. Louis at 8.

In NFL play last night, Carolina dominated Tampa Bay, 31-13. Meanwhile, in college football action, Mississippi State ousted Kentucky, 28-22 and Marshall fell to Middle Tennessee State, 51-49.

The Ohio Bobcats return home to battle rival Miami in the Battle of the Bricks tomorrow. The game can be heard on Power 105 with pre game starting at 12:30 with the Bobcat Insider and kickoff at 2.
