Morning Sports Report – 2/5/14

The Ohio State Buckeyes ousted the 17th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on the road last night, 76-69. The Buckeyes and Hawkeyes went back and forth in the first half, but Iowa led by two at the intermission. Ohio State responded and led most of the way in the second half, keyed by Aaron Craft, whose three point play with a minute left gave the Bucks the win. Craft led Ohio State with 17 points and six assists. The Buckeyes will now host Purdue on Saturday at 6.

In NCAA top 25 action last night, #3 Florida topped Missouri, 68-58. #8 Kansas handled Baylor, 69-52. #11 Duke blew past Wake Forest, 83-63. #15 Texas ousted TCU, 59-54. #18 Kentucky toppled Ole Miss, 80-64 and #24 Memphis dominated Rutgers, 101-69.

The Ohio Bobcats return to action tonight as they travel to Western Michigan. The Bobcats are coming off their biggest win in conference play over Toledo and now turn their sites to a dangerous MAC West opponent. The Bobcats are currently tied a top the MAC East. Ohio and Western Michigan do battle tonight on Power 105 with pre game coverage starting at 6:30 and the tip at 7.

In NBA play yesterday, Charlotte dominated Golden State, 91-75. Chicago bested Phoenix, 101-92. Minnesota handled the LA Lakers, 109-99 and Indiana topped Atlanta, 89-85.

According to a report, former Reds hurler and current free agent Bronson Arroyo is in talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Arroyo also recently talked with the Seattle Mariners. Arroyo has pitched for the Reds since 2006.

In NHL action, Dallas bested Phoenix, 3-1. Minnesota edged Tampa Bay, 2-1. Ottawa outlasted St. Louis, 5-4 in a shootout. The New York Islanders blanked Washington, 1-0. Florida handled Toronto, 4-1. Montreal shutout Calgary, 2-0. Winnipeg snuck past Carolina, 2-1. The New York Rangers dominated Colorado, 5-1 and Boston defeated Vancouver, 3-1.
