First baseman Joey Votto batted third in the Reds’ starting lineup for their game on Tuesday against the Dodgers and finished 1-for-3 with a walk. Votto hadn’t played since going on the disabled list on May 21 with a quadriceps strain in his left knee, the same knee on which he had two surgical procedures in 2012. The Reds had gone 11-12 without the 2010 NL MVP, who is hitting .257 with six home runs and 12 RBIs this season.
The St. Louis Cardinals knocked off Tampa Bay 1-0, Chicago beat Pittsburg 7-3 and the first place Brewers fell to the New York Mets 6-2 in other NL Central games Tuesday. The Cleveland Indians pounded out 10 hits versus Kansas City, but still lost to the Royals 9-5. It was only the Tribes 2nd loss in their last 11 games.
Kawhi Leonard scored a career-high 29 points, and the San Antonio Spurs made an NBA Finals-record 75.8 percent of their shots in the first half in a 111-92 victory over the Miami Heat. The Spurs made 19 of their first 21 shots and finished 25 of 33 in the first half en route to taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series. Danny Green and Tony Parker each had 15 points and Tim Duncan scored 14. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had 22 points for the Heat, who hosts Game 4 on Thursday.
The Southern Ohio Copperheads presented by OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital play host to the Lima Locos tonight at Bob Wren Stadium. Brandon Sittinger will be on the hill for the Snakes, who will be looking for their first win of the year. The 6’1 right-hander just completed his 2nd season at Marshall University where he appeared in 16 games for the Thundering Herd. Tonight’s game at Bob Wren can be heard live on Power 105 with pre game set for 7:15 and the first pitch at 7:30.
