The Cincinnati Reds came back to beat the Chicago Cubs, 5-4 in 13 innings. The Cubs took the lead right away when David DeJesus led the game off with a solo homer. The Cubs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on a Starlin Castro RBI single. However, the Reds would answer in the seventh to tie the game on a solo homer from Jay Bruce and a Jack Hannahan RBI triple. In the 13th inning, the Cubs would take a two-run lead on a two-run blast from Luis Valbuena. But the Reds would not roll over as Jay Bruce delivered a two-RBI double to tie the game and then with two outs, Cesar Izturis came through with an RBI single. The Cincinnati Reds toppled the Miami Marlins yesterday, 10-6. The Reds and Marlins were knotted up at two after six innings, but in the seventh the Reds would blow the game wide open. Cincinnati tallied eight runs in the seventh behind RBI singles from Brandon Phillips and Devin Mesoraco and back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles from Todd Frazier, Shin-Soo Choo and Xavier Paul. Miami would put up four in the ninth but it would not be enough. Cincinnati will now host the Chicago Cubs tonight. Mike Leake will matchup against Travis Wood. The Cincinnati Reds toppled the Miami Marlins last night, 11-1. The Reds scored once in the third on a wild pitch, but the Marlins answered with one in the fourth. However, it was all Reds from then on. Cincinnati scored four in the fourth and four again in the fifth behind a Shin-Soo Choo RBI double and RBI singles from Zack Cozart and Chris Heisey. Todd Frazier continued to pile it on with a two-run blast in the sixth. Reds pitcher Tony Cingrani was solid in his major league debut, throwing five innings and giving up one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. Cincinnati hosts Miami again tonight. The Cincinnati Reds grabbed a pair of wins yesterday, taking the suspended game in the resumed bottom of the ninth, 1-0 and blasting the Phillies in the originally scheduled game, 11-2. The Reds loaded the bases in the resumed game from Tuesday night and Jay Bruce came through with an RBI single. In the original game, Cincinnati jumped out to a big lead, scoring once in the first on a Brandon Phillips RBI single and blowing the game open in the second with five runs behind a Todd Frazier solo blast, RBI triple from Mike Leake and a Jay Bruce RBI base hit. Reds hurler Mike Leake was solid, throwing seven shutout innings and surrendering just three hits with seven strikeouts. The Reds begin a series with the Miami Marlins tonight. The Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies were suspended last night due to inclement weather after playing eight and a half innings of scoreless baseball. The game will be picked up again tonight at 5:30 in the bottom of the ninth. Reds pitcher Homer Bailey was stellar, throwing eight shutout innings and giving up just two hits with 10 strikeouts. The Reds and Phillies each only mustered two hits. The Reds will finish the suspended game and then start the originally scheduled game with Philadelphia tentatively at 7. The Cincinnati Reds topped the Philadelphia Phillies last night to snap a five-game losing skid, 4-2. The game was scoreless until the seventh when the Reds took a 2-0 lead on a Todd Frazier sac-fly. But in the eighth, the Phillies would answer on a Chase Utley two-run homer. However, the Reds responded right back in the bottom half when Brandon Phillips delivered with the bases loaded. The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday, 10-7. The Reds jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind an RBI single from Brandon Phillips and an RBI double from Shin-Soo Choo. However, the Pirates would cut into the lead in the seventh, tallying four runs and completing the comeback with six in the eighth on home runs from Michael McKenry and Starling Marte. After a scoreless four innings, the Cardinals jumped out to a big lead with four runs in the fifth and four in the sixth behind homers from John Jay, Carlos Beltran, Matt Adams and Matt Carpenter. Homer Bailey struggled for Cincinnati, giving up seven runs on nine hits in five innings while giving up three walks. Cincinnati falls to 5-4 with the loss. The Cincinnati Reds had a two-game winning streak snapped last night in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-1. The Reds were on the board first on a Brandon Phillips sac-fly. Bronson Arroyo had a perfect game through five innings, but the Cardinals ended that in the sixth when Matt Adams hit a two-run homer and Carlos Beltran hit an RBI single to give St. Louis a three run lead. The Reds fall to 5-3 and will wrap up their series in St. Louis today. Reds hurler Homer Bailey will battle Jake Westbrook.
