Josiah Yazdani kicked a 29-yard field goal as time expired to lift Ohio to a 24-21 win over Miami in “The Battle of the Bricks” Tuesday night. Jordan Reid hauled in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Derrius Vick with 11:28 left to tie the 91st meeting between the teams at 21-21. Yazdani missed a 42-yard attempt with under two minutes left. Miami then drove to the Ohio 45 yard line, but the drive stalled and the RedHawks sailed the ensuing punt into the end zone for a touch back. After running for a first down at the Miami 33, Vick found Chase Cochran for 18 yards and Brendan Cope for 38 yards for a first down at the Miami 11, where Yazdani booted the game-winner. [more...]

Andy Dalton threw for 233 yards and a touchdown and A.J. Green had 121 yards receiving to give the Cincinnati Bengals a 22-13 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Bengals led throughout, but Houston cut the lead to 3 late in the third quarter before Cincinnati tacked on two field goals in the fourth to secure the win. Rookie Jeremy Hill scored on a 2-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter after an interception by Ryan Mallett for Cincinnati’s only touchdown of the second half. With the victory Cincinnati improved to (7-3-1) and remained atop the AFC North Standings. [more...]

The Ohio Bobcats made their first road trip of the season last night, and lost 79-62 to Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. Ohio trailed 45-20 at the intermission, but stormed back with a 24-9 run in the 2nd half to cut the lead to 13. The Eagles however responded with a run of their own in front of a sellout crowd at Alico Arena, before earning the 16 point victory.  Florida Gulf Coast — complete with its #DunkCity tag — made it to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament in 2013 and were the preseason favorites to win the Atlantic Sun Conference this year. Maurice Ndour scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Ohio, which fell to 1-1 on the season. [more...]

The Bobcats drove to the Huskies 42 on the ensuing series, but stalled when Landon Smith fumbled with 4:03 to play. The Huskies then ran out the clock. A.J. Ouellette ran for 127 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Ohio (5-5, 3-3). Derrius Vick threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Ouellette to tie the game at 14 with 8:50 to play. [more...]

Alex Ovechkin and Marcus Johansson each scored two goals, and the Washington Capitals beat Columbus 4-2 last night to extend Jackets’ losing streak to nine games. The good news for the Columbus Blue Jackets: there are five months left in the NHL season, plenty of time to crawl out of 15th place in the Eastern Conference and make it back to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The bad news is there are five months left in the season, and it could be a long winter if they don’t get healthy and awaken from their uninspired funk quickly. The Blue Jackets keep thinking they hit rock bottom, only to discover a new low, like Saturday’s 7-4 loss to Tampa Bay at home. At 4-9-1, the Jackets have lost eight straight, one short of the franchise record. Columbus will look to avoid tying the record tonight when they travel to Washington. The game between the Jackets and Capitals can be heard live on 970WATH and 97.1FM with pregame at 6:45 and the drop of the puck at 7:00. [more...]

The Cleveland Browns took full advantage of Andy Dalton’s miserable night Thursday, dominating the Cincinnati Bengals 24-3 in an AFC North showdown that was shockingly one-sided from the outset. Cleveland (6-3) improved its best start since 1994 and moved into a first-place tie with Pittsburgh in the NFL’s toughest division. The Browns also ended one of their most enduring streaks of futility. They won a division game on the road for the first time since 2008, ending a streak of 17 consecutive losses. The Browns roughed up Dalton, who was 10 of 33 for 86 yards with three interceptions and two sacks. Cleveland controlled the game by rushing for 170 yards. [more...]
